Dos and Don'ts While Dining At a Restaurant
|
Life’s hectic pace sometimes compels us to look for a change in the daily dining routine and we opt to dine in a restaurant of our choice. But there is some basic etiquette which should be followed to have a pleasant dining experience.
Do’s in a Restaurant:
- Comfortable Sitting: Choose a nice location in the restaurant like the table near the window or a nice picture. It will make for lesser disturbance as compared to the more crowded spot.
- Courteousness: Show politeness and courtesy to the serving staff. The staff will lose interest in serving you if you speak rudely to them.
- Tip for the Waiter: Tips are important for the waiters and it is always a good thing if you can leave 15% of the total cost of the restaurant bill.
- Cell Phone Off: The cell phone should be either switched off or put on a silence mode to avoid inconvenience to other diners. It is also extremely rude to let your phone ring at a loud volume.
- Right Eating Manners: One should always follow the proper table manners while dining out. Slurping or speaking while eating is just not done.
Don’ts in a Restaurant:
- Don’t move your plate after you have finished your meals. It is quite disgraceful to say the least.
- Don’t order food which you cannot afford. First decide your budget and then order the food.
- Do not sit in the restaurant for hours drinking coffee. This makes one table engaged unnecessarily and also hits the restaurant’s revenues.
